 etsura's day job is owner and manager of an old and established senbei cracker shop in West Shinjuku. But he moonlights as a P.I. specializing in missing-persons cases, and is often referred to as a "manhunter."Setsura is a man with two souls. The "normal" Setsura is an easy-going guy with a wry sense of humor. His alter ego is a semi-divine (or semi-demonic) being that appears only when confronted by grave threats. His primary weapon is a strand of sub-micron-thick titanium "devil wire" he shoots from his fingers that can cut, bind and manipulate any object, living or dead. |

 nlike the Methuselah-like being of Demon City Shinjuku, this Mephisto is said to be the most handsome man in the world. He is conversant in modern medicine and the dark arts, along with history, religion, and science. He was a student of Faust, the German scholar who sold his soul to the devil.Mephisto is at times an unapologetic misogynist. He finds women fascinating, but for medical--not romantic--reasons. He's attracted to Setsura's "other" self (who, in turn, shows no interest in him). But there are times when Setsura wonders if Mephisto's preferences are as hardwired as he claims. |

 rincess Biki ("beautiful princess") is a four-thousand year old vampire from China. Also known as Daji, she was the favorite concubine of the Chinese Emperor Zhou (the "Chinese Caligula"), the last, doomed ruler of the Shang Dynasty. Her wanton ways led to the destruction of the dynasty.Curiously, the decline and fall of the Hsia (Xia), Shang and Zhou dynasties, a period spanning over 1500 years, are all blamed on amorous she-devils (Moxi, Daji and Baosi). Kikuchi makes them the same person, and weaves into the mix the story of Tamamo no Mae and the nine-tailed fox. |
