Chapter 2 (Angel Falling Softly)
I employ some literary slight of hand in this chapter, first comparing Salt Lake City to Yonkers, and then easing in a reference to Salt Lake County. The county actually has five times the population of Yonkers. Nevertheless, there are truly vast differences in area and population density. As the table below shows, Salt Lake County has over twice the area of New York City proper, and sixty percent of the area of Long Island.
Area and population density are in square miles.
Salt Lake | 178,858 | 110 | 1,666 |
Yonkers | 196,086 | 18 | 10,833 |
SL County | 978,701 | 808 | 1,112 |
NY City | 8,250,567 | 305 | 27,051 |
Area and population density are in square miles.
